Dr. Karen Johnson is a board-certified family physician and integrative medicine specialist who runs a telemedicine practice based on the Big Island of Hawaii. She completed fellowship training under Dr. Andrew Weil at the University of Arizona and is certified by the Institute for Functional Medicine. Dr. Johnson was among the first Pacific practitioners to become Shoemaker-certified for treating biotoxin illness (CIRS). Her practice, now known as Kohala Integrative Medicine, focuses on finding root causes of illness using nutrition, herbal medicine, and functional lab analysis. She consults with patients throughout Hawaii (and beyond) via telehealth, addressing chronic conditions like mold toxicity, chronic fatigue, and cognitive decline by blending her conventional family medicine background with evidence-based holistic therapies.
