Dr. McMahon earned his medical degree from Creighton University in 1989 and completed a pediatric residency at Duke University Medical Center in 1992, and he has been a board-certified pediatrician practicing in Roswell, New Mexico for over 25 years. He developed a special interest in Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) in 2009 and, after training with mold illness expert Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker, opened a dedicated CIRS clinic in Roswell that began with 15 local patients and grew to serve thousands of adults and children. He was also the first physician in the world to complete Dr. Shoemaker’s CIRS Certification Program. Over his career, Dr. McMahon has spoken at medical conferences about CIRS, written three books, and co-authored a comprehensive consensus paper on CIRS and the health effects of water-damaged buildings. He now serves as Medical Director of MoldCo, where he focuses on making high-quality, evidence-based mold illness care accessible through a digital platform to patients regardless of their location.
