HERTSMI-2 stands for Health Effects Roster of Type-Specific Formers of Mycotoxins and Inflammagens – 2nd Version. This test specifically analyzes dust samples for 5 critical mold species (Aspergillus penicillioides, Aspergillus versicolor, Chaetomium globosum, Stachybotrys chartarum, and Wallemia sebi) that are strongly associated with water-damaged buildings and health issues. The test provides a HERTSMI-2 score where a score <10 indicates the building is safe for re-occupancy, making it an essential tool for homeowners and CIRS patients assessing indoor air quality. Sample collection uses Swiffer cloths or vacuum methods, and results are delivered via email with interpretation guidelines.
